Our Story
Ohemaa Konadu—of blessed memory—was the beloved wife of the late Baffour Owusu Afrifa (I), the Awuruwahene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Kingdom, Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Awuruwahene is the Paramount Chief's (Kotokuhene) trusted advisor and is called upon to help with important decisions and issues.
Although Ohemaa Konadu was not a queen mother, the title “Ohemaa” was an honorary name bestowed upon her by her husband in recognition of her exceptional patience, wisdom, and grace.
This is why the logo of Ohemaa Konadu Royal Hotel features a crown symbolizing honor and dignity. Inscribed within the crown is an unbreakable egg and a broken axe—a powerful emblem signifying that even something as delicate as an egg can overcome the strength of an axe (kosua bu akuma), representing resilience, inner strength, and the triumph of patience.
